CHA Executive

Executive of the CHA (as of June 2026):

Board of Directors Position Bio
Paul MacInnes Chair Paul has 41 years of senior management experience in the food industry, but it was his passion for protecting the health of our lakes and preserving them for future generations that movitivated his co-founding of the CHA in 2007. In addition to being appointed chair in 2009, he also served as President of his local lake association for nearly 10 years, demonstrating a long-standing commitment to lake stewardship and community leadership.
Gord Bennet Treasurer
Janice Walters Secretary Janice volunteered as the CHA secretary 2023 after attending the CHA's annual Lake Health meeting for several years. She creates the newsletter for Canning Lake Association where her faminly has been cottaging since the 50s and belongs to 100 Women That Care raising money for local charities in Haliburton. After attending McMaster University, Janice went on to manage academic, biologic and pharmaceutical global clinical trials and software, and she is a retired registered nurse.
James Andrews Director
Jeanne Anthon Director Jeanne claims the smartest thing she ever did was marry into a family cottage on Mountain Lake 64 years ago. Her passion for healthy lake issues led to two years as President of the Federation of Ontario Cottagers’ Association (FOCA) plus 13 years in Minden municipal politics. A highlight was participating as a Governor in the Canadian Coalition on Acid Rain paving the way for the Canada-United States Air Quality Agreement in 1991.
Ryan Brooks Director In addition to his role for the CHA, Ryan serves as a director and steward for the Bob Lake Association in Minden. He is deeply passionate about protecting the natural environment. As an avid canoe tripper, backpacker, and hiker, he has spent many summers camping in Algonquin and Killarney provincial parks.  Ryan has spent over 20 years working in the healthcare and education sectors. He is the founder of the Eight Branches College of Eastern Medicine and Lumo Beverage Corp., an organic plant-based sports drink company. In prior volunteer roles, Ryan has also lent his time as vice president and treasurer for two other non-profit organizations in healthcare and education.
Emily Doyle Director
Timothy James Director Timothy is a research scientist, project manager, and communicator in environmental science and conservation based at Queen's University and the Univeristy of Iceland. Timothy’s grandparents came to Haliburton County as new cottagers in 1950, and his extended family can still be found at the family cottage every summer. Now a full time-resident of the county, he is an enthusiastic advocate for the health and sustainable enjoyment of our beautiful lakes, a cause he also supports as a board member of Safe Quiet Lakes.
Mark Roszell Director
Barbara Szita-Knight Director Barbara, a published author and photographer, has been a Haliburton county cottager for over 37 years and enjoys spending time with her family at the lake. As an active lake steward since 1999 involved in water quality and invasive species projects, she has witnessed many changes in the health of our lakes. Over the last ten years, she served as a board member of the Bancroft Haliburton Chapter of the Ontario Woodlot Association and previously served on the Oak Ridges Moraine seniors committee.
